Each season is a busy and fulfilling one at CMFTO, and I never tire of helping our clients rightsize, edit, and design their spaces. But I always carve out time to recharge my creative battery so I can continue devoting my full attention to this work I love so much! Here are a few ways I rest and reset when the mercury starts rising. I’d love to hear how you slow down and recenter during these sun-filled months.
Appreciating Natural Beauty
I feel incredibly fortunate to have access to this serene lake—I love to just sit quietly and absorb its beauty. This time, I brought my watercolors along to capture the summery scene. I find that looking closely at a landscape really helps clear my mind and focus on color, which is so inspiring to me.
Finding the Right Soundtrack
Is there anything better than a well-crafted cocktail at sunset, paired with the perfect soundtrack? I love this album of some of my favorite artists covering the incomparable Joni Mitchell. (Herbie Hancock, Norah Jones, Tina Turner, Joni—now that’s an ideal cocktail party.)
Cultivating Inspiration
This antique typewriter reminds me of my beloved aunt, who would type out letters to me on her own Olympia typewriter. Surrounding yourself with objects that have a story really makes everyday moments more meaningful, don’t you think? Early summer sunrises inspire me to sit down at the typewriter and journal about the natural beauty that surrounds me on these precious days.
Wishing you many moments of serenity and inspiration this summer!
