Over the years, our clients have come to rely on our extensive rolodex of reliable and gifted artisans and resources. At CMFTO, we pride ourselves on our ability to recognize extraordinary talent, and while we can’t share ALL our secrets, we thought it would be fun to highlight a few of our favorite artisans throughout the year.
Today, we’d like to introduce you to:
Julie Conway is a glass and light artist based out of Seattle, the leading glass artistry community in the world. Claudia met Julie in 2016 at a local art gallery, and they hit it off instantly. Knowing that Julie had unique pieces that Claudia’s clients would appreciate, they set about building a collaborative relationship.
A natural artist, Julie had been working in jewelry and metal sculpture when she was first introduced to glass in Santa Fe in 1997… quite by chance. The attraction was immediate. From there Julie studied glass artistry the old-fashioned way, by apprenticing with artists all over the world, including: Italy, Turkey, France, Australia and Spain, before returning to Santa Fe and working as an assistant for three and half years. This time of travel and training has directly influenced Julie’s work, which as she says is an “exploration of an environmental experience.” By combining her affinity for structural metal work with the use of glass to influence light, Julie has created a unique place in the functional artistry world.
In 2012, Julie moved her studio to Seattle where she became an integral part of the glass artistry community, a necessary component to her work. “My pieces are so large and involved, it takes a team of highly-trained, technically-advanced individuals to work together with synergy. Only in Seattle can you find this type of glass community.”
We recently installed one of Julie’s pieces at our client’s home, and the result was nothing short of outstanding. We think you’ll agree with us when we share our love for Julie Conway’s work, and how a single piece can make all the difference in the design of your unique space.

All my best,
