A Time to Relax AND Prepare

It was bound to happen – Labor Day Weekend is upon us. As the unofficial end to summer, we often use this long weekend to enjoy the last few moments of relaxation afforded by the longer warmer days.

Labor Day barbecues, picnics, and gatherings of any sort are often on everyone’s agenda. Sometimes we take a last-minute getaway or use the time to explore our neighborhood stores and restaurants. It’s often a great time to enjoy the bounty of your local farmers’ market if you haven’t yet, before it’s all gone.

We recently did just that, and here’s what we made:

Micro greens with nasturtiums and cherry tomatoes, tomato risotto made from farmers' market tomatoes roasted with fresh herbs and garlic, and poached farmers' market brown eggs... And it was delicious!

But what else does Labor Day Weekend represent?

Well, if you’re like us, you see Labor Day as a demarkation on the calendar. It’s the perfect time to do a little preparation as one season ends and another begins. This means that we look at Labor Day as an opportunity to wander around our homes taking note of those items that need attention before the weather shifts.

It’s a great time to make a list of seasonal needs, such as scheduling the chimney sweep or getting all those down comforters out of storage. A little preparation goes a long way to preventing the feeling of overwhelm that can often accompany change, including seasonal change.

We wish you all the best this Labor Day Weekend, and hope you are enjoying these last few weeks of summer. We will be.

All my best,
Claudia
